Dark Hunters Series | Sherrilyn Kenyon

Fantasy Lover | Book 1

Grace Alexander is a woman who has been with men that are unable to meet her desires. Her friend comes to spend time with her on the night of her birthday, bringing with her a book containing a picture of a man who is amazingly beautiful to Grace. After a few drinks, they decide to try and summon the man from the page, Grace knows this wont work though as prior spells haven't.
After her friend leaves no one is as shocked as Grace is, before her stands the man from the book, the page now blank and she now has a sex slave to do with as she wishes until the next moon.
Julian has been trapped inside the book for about 2000 years and he has had to fulfil many fantasies during that time. Grace is unlike others though, she is the first to see that he has a tormented past. Instead of locking herself in her room with him, she tries to help him. They grow closer the more time they spend together but he is doubtful that her plan to free him will be successful.
This first novel is all I expected and so much more. This is the first novel I have read by Kenyon, but after reading J.R.Ward and Gena Showalter I was eager to give it a go. It was quiet daunting to learn of the amount of novels in this series at first, but to be honest if they continue as they have started it wont be hard to finish.
Kenyon gives us so much information, greek gods, laughs, tears and of course lots of sex.
This novel is well suited to the adult market and I really enjoyed it. I think that Kenyon has given me something new and fresh to read and I look forward to reading more.

Night Pleasures | Book 2

Amanda has been denying her true nature for so long that when she is put in a situation she knows wont end good, she doesn't want it to go ahead. She's been in a relationship with her partner for quiet some time and now she must take him to meet her family. Thing is they all have some form of magical powers and as she fears they scare him off.
Not yet ready to get into a relationship, she refuses her sisters help to give her love life a boost. Although in her case she doesn't need any help, she is thrown into a situation that leads her to find someone. He is not her usual type, which is boring but well situated in his life, this man is dark and mysterious. She is asked by her sister to go and let her dog out to do his business in fear he may take to her sheets, when she is knocked out and captured. They have the wrong sister, Amanda is a twin and they have handcuffed her to what is her sisters enemy.
Kyrian is a dark hunter, he has fangs but is not a vampire, he is allergic to the sun, and he is extremely strong. His job is to protect the humans from his targets, they kill humans and feed of there souls.
After they escape the clutches of there captures, they travel via ambulance to hospital and Amanda is embarrassed by the conclusions they come to. After some time they are freed from the handcuffs and leave to go to Amanda's sisters where they must stay until the sun sets. There chemistry is instant, Amanda and Kyrian are drawn together and they protect eachother.
This novel was an excellent follow up to Fantasy Lover with lots of interesting goings on. There relationship may seem to be doomed because of his job and her hidden powers but together they are perfect. Kenyon has a great writing style which leaves the reader eager to continue the story. I have really enjoyed this book and am currently reading the follow up. I hope that Kenyon continues to keep these novels so enticing to read as the series continues as there are quiet alot to get through.

Night Embrace | Book 3

Talon and Sunshine are the two main characters in this novel written by Sherrilyn as part of her Dark Hunters series. Talon is a dark hunter, which is a man who is immortal and looks and has to act as if he is a vampire, even though he is not. His sole purpose if to protect humans from his enemies, these men kill and take the souls from their victims.
Sunshine is a human female, she meets Talon on the street after he saves her from falling victim to his enemies. In saving her though, he gets run over by a Mardi Gras float and is left unconscious, leaving Sunshine with no other choice but to care for him.
When they arrive at her home about her fathers pub, she strips him down and cleans his wounds before letting him rest. She is attracted to him instantly, who couldn't be with such a perfect body.
When he wakes up, Sunshine sets about telling him that she has destroyed his clothes while trying to wash them for him, unlike others he is okay with it. The only down side to him having no clothes though is that his body is in full view of her, even while wearing one of her pink towels. Whilst he showers and makes arrangements for clothes and transport to be taken to him, she fixes him something to eat. It disgusts him though that she has nothing in to suit his needs and worse she has no coffee.
Many years ago, Talon blocked out all his memories of what happened to him prior to becoming a dark hunter. Now as he spends more and more time with Sunshine, they begin to resurface. Not wanting to get tied down after there nights/day of passion, he tries to leave her. He keeps getting drawn back to her though and after a while it is revealed as to why. Talon believing he was destined to be alone for eternity, may finally get his happy ever after with Sunshine, although that may not be the case as his enemies wait to destroy them both.
I'm really enjoying this series of novels at the minute, but it can get a little to much at times with the content all similar. That's why I tend to read something away from the series in between every few books just for a little break. I have really enjoyed meeting the Dark Hunters so far and look forward to reading more as I progress through the series.

Kiss of the Night | Book 4

The main male character in this novel is called Wulf and he is an ancient Viking warrior who whenever he leaves the presence of anyone they will be unable to remember him within 5mins. This can be seen as a very useful power to have but it can also be frustrating as every time he re-meets someone he must reintroduce himself knowing next time he will have to do it again.
Cassandra is a woman who has been having hot and steamy dreams featuring the mighty Viking warrior and she is stunned when she meets him for real. She is the only person who can actually remember him but they are both from different races and Wulf has sworn that he will hurt all people of her race.
Until he met and discovered Cassandra's true heritage he was also experiencing these dreams with Cassandra but he knows that everything is against them from really being together and has no choice but to ignore the feelings he shares towards her.
With them sworn enemies Wulf is shocked to be ordered to protect her, this makes there bond with each other grow stronger until they are fighting not only to save her life but the life of her unborn child which was conceived while they were together in their dreams.
Together they must fight the gods and protect each other meaning that when the enemies destroy his home they must put their trust in Cassandra's daimon sister and her husband, the only ones who are willing to help. They go to a safe haven and their their love grows stronger and the complete the mating ritual and hope that in some way they can remain together in order to bring up their son together. Will they be able to do it without Cassandra having to turn daimon?
This story was very emotional as Cassandra nears her 27th birthday she is fearful of not getting to know her son and decides to make a memory box, to be honest I got a little teary eyed reading the note placed in the box from his daddy. The story keeps the reader on edge waiting to see how things will end up and if they will be able to fight the curse that hangs over their heads. Excellent story but at times the dialogue was questionable.

Night Play | Book 5

I think this is my favourite novel to date in the series as I really enjoyed it and had it finished in no time at all, where with some of the previous novels I struggled to read them.
This novel is about a werewolf named Vane who has been put to death by his father following the death of his sister and her young. His brother is also sentenced and they are strung up in a tree to await their deaths, they have a collar placed around each of their necks to stop their magic from working so they have not much hope of escape. When a number of damions arrive they fear the worse and when Vane sees his brother being taken by them he escapes his ties by breaking his limb. He manages to get rid of all the damions but his brother is in a bad way, he must carry his brother in his wolf form to safety.
Bride McTierney is on her last nerve when her boyfriend decides to dump her after them being together for so long. He used her to get what he wanted and now that he is secure in his position he drops her. Enraged at the way he has done it she refuses to shed a tear for him and cleans her already perfect store till she is interrupted by a customer.
When Vane sees Bride he has no option when his feet walk her way. She is clearly upset and intent on making her smile he approaches her. He goes in and enquires on a gift for someone, he smells her scent on the object she advises him on and is happy when she agrees to try it on. It is perfect for her and after he pays  for it he leaves. She rushes after him because he has left it behind and is shocked when he says it is for her. One thing leads to another and shortly after they part ways they both experience a burning sensation on their hands. This is a sign that they have found their mate and they must either get together or part ways once the mark fades.
It takes a lot of getting to know each other including their secret for Bride to make her choice. Will she choose to seal her life with Vane's and will his brother ever come out of his coma?

Seize the Night | Book 6

This is the sixth novel in the Dark Hunter series so far and the two main characters are called Tabitha and Valerius. Tabitha is the twin sister of Amanda who had a novel also, in it she met and married Kyrian. Valerius is a dark hunter who tends to keep to himself for many reasons.
The pair meet one night while out hunting the enemy damions. Tabitha is so lost in her attack upon them that she realizes a little to late that she has in fact mistaken Valerius for a damion. Being an enemy of many of the dark hunters Tabitha requests the help of one of the squires, Nick. When Nick arrives he is reluctant to help her as he doesn't want anyone to find out because Valerius is so hated amongst the others but is left with no choice.
Tabitha leaves Valerius in the care of her flatmate while she goes to work in her store, when he awakens she returns to him and talks to him. Valerius is eager to leave her home as he feels uncomfortable. After he has a shower he agrees to eat with Tabitha but is disgusted with what she sets in front of him and leaves without anything.
Tabitha knows how her family feels about Valerius so she tries to hide him from their knowledge until she knows what way things are headed. Kyrian will never forgive her for falling for his enemy even though it is not he who was to blame for his death.
As the story unfolds we get to read more about Valerius' past and what exactly has happened that everyone dislikes him. We get to see both Tabitha and Valerius grow to love each other and how they protect the ones around them. Valerius is set to protect Tabitha from the evil which is threatening her and her family, but he may not be able to keep everyone safe.
In the story we discover just how set upon revenge Nick is and that even though some loved ones are killed not all are lost forever.
This is a very good novel in this series and i really enjoyed it, I would say it is my second favorite after Bride and Vane's story. It has left me eager to get onto the next novel as quickly as possible to see what else can happen in a series which has been so fully charged from the start. Every novel to date is slightly different and with so many left in the series to read, I look forward to seeing what will occur next!
